Nigerian Union of Journalist Chairman in Adamawa calls for Decorum as election sets in 15th of June

The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Adamawa state chapter, Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan has urged members to exhibit maturity and decorum during the forthcoming election of the Union comes June fifteen, this year.

He made the call Saturday during the congress meeting of the Union held at the Press Centre Yola.

Comrade Dedan who expressed the sacrosanctity of the election date, explained that there is no intention of any sort to alter the earlier scheduled date.

While reminding the members of the recognition accorded them as Fourth Estate of the Realm, the Chairman challenged them to justify the bid by holding up to the ethical practice of the profession.

Comrade Ishaka Donald Dedan announced the securing of the Certificate of Occupancy by the Union which hitherto was characterized by controversy and uncertainties.

Corroborating, the Northeast Vice Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Comrade Zare Baba appealed to members to galvanize efforts towards maintaining the integrity of the profession by being accurate, balance and objective in their reportage.

Comrade Baba who commended the state council for initiating and facilitating the Media Bill in the state solicited collective prayers and relevant actions by members with a view to actualizing its assent by the executive arm.

He lauded the cordial working relationship between the Correspondents Chapel in the state, the government and other members, urging them to maintain the trajectory.

Meanwhile, in a communique released at the end of the meeting, the union saluted effort of the Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for offsetting the WAEC and NECO fees for parents in the state and draw his attention as a matter of importance to rehabilitate some schools.

Remarkable commendations and good will for the lofty ideals and unprecedented achievement of the current executive members elicited the meeting.

The meeting had “Credential and Electoral Committee” of the union inaugurated, with a call on them by the state Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists to work within the confine of the constitution and their mandate without fear or favour.

The Committee Members inaugurated were Malam Bashir Liman, Alice Elisha Nicodemus member, Shetima Iliyasu member.

Others are Gloria Abutu, member and Hussaini Hammangabdo, Secretary.
