Morning Grill programme: Discussion centered on palliative for non-civil servants in Nigeria

Published by Abdulaziz Ibrahim

The palliative measures taken by the federal government to mitigate the impact of the subsidy removal on the masses have continued to generate reactions from Nigerians.

This was eminent, even as the discussions on NAS FM Magazine program “Morning Grill”, centered on favorable modalities the government should adopt to ensure masses who are the majority in the food chain, benefit.

An In-House analyst and Head of the News and Current Affairs Department, NAS FM, Muhammad SA’IDU, said the federal government should give priority not only to civil servants but low-income earners who are not on the government’s payroll.

Saidu also opined that the responsibility for assisting the populace is on the state governments as it’s on the federal government, calling on the federal government to work not only on palliative but also in controlling commodities price hikes.

Contributing, a caller on the program and former Chairman of the Trade Union Congress, TUC, Abuja chapter, Aliyu Musa Abdulkarim, urged the federal government to map out a workable blueprint for the palliative to reach people at the grassroots.

Another caller, Comrade Gideon Haziel of Jimeta, commended certain states that take steps to address the difficult experience, while other callers advised Governor Ahmadu Fintiri to ensure that during the distribution of palliatives in the state, non-civil servants get it as they constitute the majority of the people suffering from the effect of subsidy removal.
