A cross section of students of tertiary institution in Mubi, have decried over high cost of living as many struggle daily with the hike in prices of academic materials.
The students while narrating to NASFM News how they bearly survive with the current economic hardship bedeviling the country, called on the government to take a second look at the situation.
For a long period of time now, the current economic hardship bedeviling the country has continued to bite harder in tertiary institutions, as academic materials such as handouts, books,as well as photocopying among others have now skyrocket.
The economic situation has forced many students who could not afford their academic needs to engage in nonchalant behaviors.
Some of the students who spoke to NAS FM News, narrated how they struggle at school amidst the daunting economic hardship.
According to them,they find it very difficult to afford some essential academic materials because of it’s high cost.
They appealed for the government’s urgent intervention into the lingering economic hardship as it affects their academic performance.
It could be recalled that the federal government announced the commencement of students Loan in January, this year in order to help in funding students education.
However the students loan is yet to commence till now.
