Adamawa Governor Champions Youth Development at Football Tournament Finale

Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, on Saturday, 3rd August,2024, attended the final football match 2nd edition of Hon. Sulaiman Alkali Inter-ward tournament at Jimeta Temporary Stadium.

The final match, which took place between Nassarawo ward and Alkalawa ward, saw the latter win the match on penalty shootout 4-2 after barren normal time.

Governor Fintiri, who kicked start the final match had after presenting the trophy to Alkalawa ward said, soon enough the youth will have the opportunity to play not only football but most sporting activities in world standard once the state stadium under construction is completed.

He equally applauded all the wards that participated in the tournament, encouraging them to maintain sportsmanship spirit as the state government will not relent in providing platforms and opportunities for it’s skilful youths.

Fintiri expressed excitement over the level of unity and peaceful coordination amongst the youth despite reports of unrest in parts of the country, assuring the crowd that his administration will not betray their trust and government will make sure to address the situation.

On his part,the tournament sponsor and member representing Yola-North at the Adamawa state House of Assembly Hon. Sulaiman Alkali appreciates all hands that contribute to the success of the tournament, especially as his aim of unity is achieved.

He assured the governor his readiness to key into state government measures to maintain peace and develop youth.

Rumde ward who won the 3rd place earlier pockets Two hundred and fifty thousand naira, Nassarawo ward who lost to Alkalawa ward in the final had Five hundred thousand naira while the winners Alkalawa ward gets One million naira prize money.

Head Coach of Alkalawa Habu Bature praised Governor Fintiri’s focus on youth and his determination to provide stadium for the youth, claiming that the effort will make the youth productive to the state their by increasing revenue to the state government.

Present at the final match was the Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly Hon. Bathiya Wesley, traditional and religious leaders, as well as various groups of youths, witnessed the glorious event.
