Deputy Governor Farauta Calls for Federal Support as Adamawa Donates Relief to Flood-Affected Areas

The Adamawa state government has called for more support and collaboration from the federal government and humanitarian donors in addressing challenges facing flood affected communities across the state.
Deputy Governor Professor Kaletapwa Farauta made the call while donating relief materials to no fewer than 8 communities affected by flood in Numan and Demsa local government areas.

Imburu community of Numan, located at the shores of river Benue has over the years been experiencing flooding mostly attributed to overflow of water from river Benue, river Gongola and other streams due to heavy down pour.

At a glance, houses have been submerged and other valuables destroyed, a testament of the devastation caused by flood in no fewer than 8 communities, to include; Dilli, Imburu, Bilachi among others in both Numan and Demsa local governments.
Deputy governor professor Kaletapwa Farauta despite rains was in the two local councils to identify with the victims and donate relief items for onward distribution to the victims.

She handed over the food and non food relief materials to the chairmen of the two local governments, saying it was provided by the Adamawa state government as quick intervention to cushion the effect of the flood on the victims.

The deputy governor tasked them to ensure fair, transparent and equitable distribution to the target beneficiaries who are seeking shelter in safer places and reassured of governments continuous commitment towards addressing issues affecting the citizens.

Professor Farauta encouraged those living in flood prone areas to relocate to safer grounds to avoid the dangers associated with flooding which is already glaring in several communities across the state.
Responding, the benefitting local governments appreciated governor Fintiri for coming to their aid and pledged their unflinching support.

It could be recalled that the federal government and other relevant agencies had issued flood alert across some states in Nigeria including Adamawa.
