Open Defecation Lamented in Adamawa

Adamawa Commissioner of Water Resources has frowned at the continued level of open defecation in public places and communities in the State.

Hassan Kaigama who disclosed this in an interview with NASFM NEWS, said the situation is now out of control due non-existence of laws to prosecute the perpetrators.

Commissioner Hassan Kaigama who said Adamawa State Government would not relent its effort for enlightening the populace on the negative effects of open defecation, decries non-existence of laws to challenge to perpetrators.

Kaigama also noted that the attitude of open defecation is now on the increased across state capital and other communities facing flooding due to torrential rainfall at the moment.

The commissioner of Water Resources explained that there are no chemicals to cleanse water due to destruction by ENDSARS protesters in 2020.

He urged the residents of the communities to always maintain cleanliness in the drainages constructed by Government to safeguard health.

Experts noted that open defecation, when contaminated the water, poses different diseases to communities, this calls for maintenance of self-hygiene to address the problems
