Adamawa State planning commission in collaboration with UNICEF BAUCHI field office on Wednesday organized a one day meeting on the dissemination of the multiple indicator Cluster Survey (MICS) and national immunization coverage survey NICS 2021/2022 report.
The meeting which took place at Duragi hotel in Jimeta had in attendance representative from Ministries of Health, women Affairs, water resources, Journalists as well as officials of the national bureau of Statistic NBS.
In his welcome address at the meeting, the Chairman Adamawa State planning commission represented by the permanent secretary in the commission Isa Ardo Shehu mni welcomed all those who attended the meeting.
According to him, the Multiple indicator Cluster Survey MICS is a programme develop and supported by UNICEF to collect estimates of key indicators used to assess the situation of children, adolescent, and women,
Shehu who said that the stakeholder’s should move forward to disseminate MICs reports equally thanked Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for the support and cooperation given to the commission, UNICEF and other supporting agencies.
In his presentation on some of the key findings from the report, the planning and monitoring specialist for UNICEF BAUCHI field office Mr Stanley Garuba said the purpose of the meeting was to disseminate MICS and NICS conducted in 2021 by the NBS with support from UNICEF and other supporting agencies to the stakeholders in Adamawa State.
Garuba said some of the key indicators indicate that the state has recorded low figures in the areas of open defecation, school attendance and high figure for out of school children.
On her part, State officer of the National bureau of Statistics Mrs Blessing Yaro said they have worked closely with the general public in discharging their duty.
Yaro, added that a lot of methodologies were followed by NBS to make sure that the data collected are genuine
